How to live your student life to its fullest

Your time at University is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s the place where you get the key to your gateway to the future and may possibly meet your future husband or wife.
However, you must take every opportunity given to you – academic or simply just fun related! Here are five possible ways on how to live student life to the full based on my University experience.

1.    Don’t buy cheap cooking utensils

So before you go to University, you go shopping a week or two before to get all the essentials you need for your 1st year: Bedding, stationary crockery and of course cooking utensils. From experience, I went for everything which was the cheapest. When it comes to cooking utensils, this should not be the case as I learned during my first semester at University.

I bought a value set of saucepans like the picture above for around £10 thinking it was a bargain and a good investment. How I was so wrong! By my second semester I was left with 1 pan. I would thoroughly recommend investing in a good manufactured pan set which I eventually did as they will last your for your whole University experience (unless you are a terrible cook!)

 2.    Join a Society or Sports Team

To make the most of your university experience, joining a society or one of the University’s sports teams is the best way to meet new people and make friends for life. Societies and sports teams offer you a chance to branch off from your flat mates and course mates to indulge in a hobby or experience something you’ve not done before.

3.    Buying Tesco Value products just because its cost efficient

Being in my third year of University, I know foremost how expensive it can get living the student life with rent, bills and of course your nights out to pay for! Food for many students
seems to be at the bottom of their priorities. A lot of students pop to their local Tesco’sor other supermarket and get the
value product of the essentials. There is nothing wrong with certain Tesco Value products such as fruit and veg but I recommend staying away from the cheese – it looks and tastes like rubber from a previous experience!

4.    Making a meal for all your flatmates

Everyone in your flat will have different food preferences or not have tasted certain types of food before. Uni is one of the best places to try something new and show off your cooking skills. Since first year, everyone once in a while, me and my housemates have taken it in turns to cook one of our signature dishes or a dish we have not tried before. It’s a fun activity to do and can also turn into your own version of ‘Come Dine with Me’.

The last thing I cooked was Christmas dinner for my housemates from scratch and it all went to plan – however we may have been a bit too greedy!

5.    Pound land / 99p store – Students Heaven

Personally I think these shops were just invented to give students an easy time while at University. With hundreds of these darted around the U.K, I’m sure you will have at least one or both in your University’s town. Before going to Uni, I had not been into a Poundland much due to the stereotypes that associate with it.

However, since becoming a student – I can’t stop going! These shops offer everything from cleaning products to pick n mix tub for a £1! To get your branded goods on a budget – get on down to your nearest one and grab some bargains!
